This summer, students from St Piers School took their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to the heart of the community by running a vibrant market stall at Edenbridge Market. The event was part of the school’s wider enterprise programme, designed to help students develop real-world skills in communication, teamwork, and money management.
The pupils worked hard in the lead-up to the event, designing and crafting a range of handmade items to sell. From screen-printed bags and wax melts to tealight snowman decorations and sock bunnies, each product reflected the students’ imagination and dedication. With just a small float to invest in materials, the students were challenged to not only cover their costs but also generate a profit—and they rose to the occasion brilliantly.

On the day of the market, the students took charge of the stall, engaging with members of the public, explaining their products, and handling transactions with growing confidence. One standout moment came when a student, Leo, independently led conversations with customers, proudly sharing the story behind the items and the school’s enterprise work. His enthusiasm and self-assurance were a true highlight of the day.
The Voyager Class, who spearheaded the summer stall, raised over £100 in sales. Combined with profits from other seasonal enterprise projects throughout the year, they managed to generate more than £132—money they chose to put towards a celebratory end-of-year trip, including bowling and a meal out. It was a well-earned reward for their hard work and a testament to their growing independence and teamwork.
Events like these are more than just opportunities to sell products—they’re powerful learning experiences that help students build confidence, develop practical life skills, and connect with their local community. We’re incredibly proud of all the students who took part and can’t wait to see what they create next!
